Memorial

Tampa Fire Rescue has a tradition of over 116 years of excellent service to the community and the citizens we serve. We are very proud of our service delivery and the professionalism we bring in an emergency.

From 1929 until 2001, we have unfortunately, lost 12 active duty members of Tampa Fire Rescue. While we pay homage for our fallen law enforcement officers each year, we have never had the opportunity to pay tribute to our own fallen firefighters. Therefore, it is the goal of my administration to erect a beautiful memorial outside of Tampa Fire Headquarters to honor our firefighters who gave the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.

The memorial is erected on Zack Street at the entrance to Headquarters. It is etched black granite with a life size statue of a firefighter in solemn stance, flanked by the American flag, the Fallen Firefighters flag and the City of Tampa flag, with continuous lighting. The cost for construction of this memorial was approximately $160,000.

This is a truly worthy tribute, both to the families of the fallen, but for those who worked and knew these individuals personally, and to the citizens of Tampa.

Please consider what you could do to help us honor fallen members and give a place of remembrance and respite for those left behind. We appreciate your consideration and want to thank you in advance.
