Townsend

Captain William ‘Bill’ Townsend is a 25 year veteran of the fire service. His career spans 3 departments, including 20 with Tampa Fire Department. He spent most of his career in Tampa’s District 4, the busiest in the city. Bill is a Florida State Certified Instructor III and holds Florida State Certifications as Fire Officer II, Firesafety Inspector I, Hazardous Materials Technician, Live Fire Training Instructor I, Pump Operator and Paramedic. He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from Northwood University as well as Associates in Science degrees in EMS and Fire Science from Hillsborough Community College.

Bill has taught in the EMS programs at Hillsborough Community College and was the lead Paramedic Instructor at Keiser Career College. He has been an adjunct instructor for Tampa Fire for over 15 years, teaching in-service classes as well as new recruit class orientation. Bill has been the TFR Recruit Class Coordinator for the past two years for TFR.

Capt. Townsend was a founding member of Friends of Tampa Firefighters and has been the lead instructor for the FFP 2720 Company Officer class as well as a Co-Instructor for FFP 1810 Tactics I, FFP 2811 Tactics II and FFP 1302 Apparatus Operator.
